Who needs a city animal license?

Any dog or cat living in Fayette County over six months of age.  Service animals are exempt from licensing.

Why do I have to license my pet?

Licensing is not only the law, it helps support vital animal welfare services in the community (i.e. cruelty investigations, stray animal pick-up, lost and found services).

Further if a pet is ever lost and is wearing it's required license tag, it has a much greater chance of being united with a worried owner.
